Summer of 2017

I’ve stared at this blank page for a few minutes (read: months) and thought to myself, “Just write something, it’s not like it’s hard.”
It is hard, but not impossible. After sleeping on it and listening to words of encouragement from Moana, the Disney hit of the summer, it was time to suck it up and get something out there. After all, perfect is the enemy of good and ain’t nobody got time for being perfect!
As Moana sings, “Happiness is Where You Are”, and where I am currently is a little all over the place, but that is par for the course, you know?
I haven’t written much this past year (as evidenced by the date of my last post) because it’s much easier to push this aside than it is to leave work undone, laundry piled up and/or skip out on workouts with friends. I want that to change, so I’m putting some words on the page to see where it leads me. And dare I say Sassy’s back?
I won’t bore you with details just yet, but there are some fun things looming (as always) and I hope to bring you more fun here on the blog with recipes and all things #sassyapproved.
Coming Up in what’s left of 2017
In the meantime, follow me on Instagram @thesassydietitian to see what is happening from food to fitness and everything in between (and of course Bode’s daily sprinkler adventures).
This summer has been a whirlwind. From two of my best friends getting married, to travel, cider tastings and chasing Bode around to try and tire him out and 100 other things i’m hoping my camera role on my phone can remind me of.

I’ve taken trips this summer alone to Key West, Cape Cod, Madison, WI, Bald Head Island, Ft. Bragg and a few places in between. It has been a blast but as cool as travel can look on social media, it can be incredibly tiring. I BARELY travel compared to some of my friends and coworkers (I’m looking at you BRAIN). Hats off to those of you who spend hours in airports, have to learn how to drive a new (rental) car each week and who have to plan their meals on the go, it ain’t easy!

I’m a dietitian but sometimes when travel gets the best of you, no matter your profession, you settle for a cheese stick and a chocolate bar when you have 20 minutes between flights and the energy of a child post sugar-crash.
You just make do.
I may be a dietitian but I am also human. So, here’s to all you lovely humans out there, let’s see where this journey takes us starting with
where we are.
xoxo,
Sass
