Whatever Happened to Designed To Fit Nutrition Meal Plans?

Yum

I’ve been really into Instagram story questions lately. I find that it gives people a way to ask questions without feeling like they can’t. So, that being said I’ve recently gone to my stories and asked people what they want to know as it relates to me, nutrition, or anything really. I’m pretty much an open book but sometimes I don’t share a lot because I have NO IDEA what people want to hear.

Well, thank goodness for Instagram, because it gave me a way to ask YOU what YOU want to hear. While I won’t be able to get to everything every week, at least I can start chipping away at it all. Never hesitate to ask any questions whether on Instagram or my blog, happy to answer if I can!

I’m going to field one question I got today.

What Happened to Designed to Fit Nutrition!?

This was a question I did not expect to get. It’s frankly one I never thought important enough to talk about. I, once again, figured that no one actually wants to know every detail of my life/career. However, I think it is important for me to be more transparent.

I worked for Designed to Fit Nutrition for about 1-1/2 years before they decided to close their doors. It was out of my control and I never saw it coming. That being said I have no hard feelings for how it all went down, just wish it could’ve continued.

At DTFN, we provided customized meal plans for clients all over the US and even started expanding globally. It was a fun space to be in but I imagine it was an incredibly tough space to be in. While the software was amazing (in my opinion) it was not easy to maintain or to improve (cost/time/resources) and so I think it became more of a hassle to continue than to keep it up and running.

I was really sad the day I found out as I had invested a ton of my time and nutrition expertise into the business. I was also sad that I may lose out on working with some of my really awesome clients (if you’re still hanging out, say hi in the comments!!)

But, such is life.

Meal Plans for Everyone!

The good news is that I am still offering meal plans. I haven’t done a ton of promoting because I have no idea how to market myself, ha! However, I finally found a platform (because the platform DTFN used  is ALSO closing their doors) I’m comfortable meal planning on and hope to start adding more clients.

Sassy Meal Plans

I’m not a huge fan of straight macro counting, BUT I  love the idea of meal planning for people. Frankly, if I had all the time in the world I would meal plan, grocery shop, and meal prep for people. I truly find it therapeutic and incredibly satisfying. That being said, as a dietitian I recognize that macros are important but NOT the whole picture.

In my meal plans, I focus mostly on the food, provide you with a grocery list and then behind the scenes am focused on the macro (and micro) nutrients on your plate. You just get to worry about WHAT you eat not necessary HOW MANY grams of protein/carbs/fats etc. you need to eat. It’s a way to offer you some guidance while also encouraging a healthy relationship with food.

Change Happens

Here’s the thing, change is inevitable, it’s what you do about change that builds your character and makes you who you are! Cheesy I know but speaking from someone who has had a LOT of change over the past few years, it’s best to embrace it.

So, while I may be sad/frustrated/angry that DTFN closed their doors, it was not in my power to keep it open. So, we change, adapt, learn and grow. It has forced me to be 100% on my own and while that is scary and not always stable, it’s forcing me to be more creative and to offer you guys more content, services, and products.

If you were a fan of DTFN, a past client, or someone who was following the brand, feel free to come my way. I offer very similar services and still want to be a part of your journey!

Let me know if you have any other questions about it all! You can always get your meal planning straight from me if you are interested 🙂

xoxo,

Sassy

Hey Laura! I was wondering about what happened to it. Tina never said anything, it seemed so cloak and dagger! I was actually trying to look up a recipe and noticed the app is totally shut down now, that’s a bummer. I was hoping they’d reach out to give past subs an ebook or something. I really loved a lot of the recipes.
