Boozy Peach Lemonade Pops are a mouthful. Perhaps we will just start calling these concoctions Boozcicles. Enjoy these Boozcicles this summer to cool you off and up the ante on your dessert game .
I am not usually a dessert girl. Don’t get me wrong, I will gladly eat dessert but I’m just not one to reach for dessert. Now, put a bag of chips in front of me and game over. That being said this time of year, it seems that I am looking for something cold and refreshing and dessert can fit that desire. It could be a drink or it could be a dessert or perhaps a cold bottle of water dumped over myself. I had to do the latter one after a workout the other day and boy did it feel good. Regardless, dessert seems to become more commonplace in the summer for me.
I started thinking an adult dessert could be good as it’s summer time and sometimes you have to treat yo-self! I had an avocado tequila ice cream a few years back and have been thinking of recreating it some day soon, stay tuned. In the meantime, I was talking to my friends about this idea and we decided peach lemonade with vodka would be a delicious drink, so I said, why not a popsicle?! Now that I have multiple popsicle molds, I just want to turn every beverage into a popsicle, so I might do just that 🙂 Try and stop me.
Ok, hold up, let’s talk about booze for one moment. Yes, I am a dietitian and yes I like booze. I get asked a lot what some good & healthy adult beverage options are and let me tell you my most popular response: “It depends” While I want to tell you that everything in moderation is key, sometimes that’s just not the right answer. It really depends on your health status and your goals. If you feel like crap and aren’t reaching your goals, let me be the one to tell you booze ain’t gonna make the magic happen. A lot of times we need a reset and a booze-free week, month, or even year is needed.
That being said IF you are content with your health status and you are making progress towards your goals, it may be okay to booze in moderation. There are better drinks than others. First and foremost, avoid the overly sugary drinks, as these will not only add to your waistline but also your hangover. Also, aim to drink a clearer liquor if possible, like vodka, white rum, gin or tequila. Finally, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water and don’t drink right up until bed, give yourself some room between last drink and bedtime. You will thank me later.
Here’s the other hard truth, when we drink, we tend to throw all caution to the wind and also eat whatever we damn well please. Well, guess what, this is not going to bode well for you in the long term. Instead, have your drink and eat as normal. If you cannot drink without also going ham on the food, perhaps that is your sign to back off on the booze. Or maybe you can use this popsicle recipe as a 2 for 1 special, dessert and booze and leave the rest as-is.
Boozy Peach Lemonade Pops
These popsicles are low in sugar, so don’t expect them to be the sweetest thing in your freezer. Actually, if they are, then you’re doing pretty good in my book. Make sure you label them appropriately so no kiddos get ahold of them! Enjoy your Peach Lemonade Pops this 4th of July and all summer long! Next up Avocado Tequila Ice Cream 😀
I used what I had on hand in my home bar, so this smooth Moonshine is what I landed on. I’d recommend using a vodka of sorts for this recipe as it will probably go the best with the Peach Lemonade theme.
Pro Tip: you can make these non-alcoholic if desired, just omit the alcohol and add in some extra water!
