My friends and I have what we refer to as the weekly “HAUTE” list. We tell each other things we are digging this week and what we want each other to take a look at. Because, after all, can things really be “haute” if you’re the only one digging it?
“Haute” is defined as :
fashionably elegant or high-class.
If you know me, you know I am pretty much neither of those things. If I wear mascara, I feel high class but usually it’s just my leggings, tank and hoodie, because let’s be honest, that’s as fashionably elegant as I roll.
I want to bring you my “haute” list aka my Friday Favorites as often as I can so you can get a glimpse into what I am digging and what can hopefully help you out as you are mindlessly scrolling through Facebook, Instagram or your 500 open tabs of safari/google chrome. (Yeah, I see you).

Haute List #1
(ok I mean a summer’s worth of Haute List)
There are many categories to choose from, so I’ll give you a few this week that seem to be on my list of important items. Thanks to my bestie Vidro for constantly helping to keep me up with the times, and reminding me to share it with you all.
Food will almost always be a given.
Need I say more? I’m a dietitian and pretty much became one because I live, breathe, eat and talk about food more than I probably should…
Seared salmon on top of a greens & quinoa bowl, called the “Roadtrip Bowl” at Hooked
I love supporting local businesses. While Amazon is a beautiful thing, it feels impersonal 99.9% of the time and when I go into a local business they start to feel like family. They ask how you are (and maybe they actually care) and you know that you are helping to support a good cause. Find some local vendors in your area and support the heck out of them.
I use Yelp to read more about the business and find out what people like/do not like about them. I don’t trust the ratings per se but love looking into the 3 and 4 star reviews as they tell me the most constructive feedback I need to make a decision on if I should check a place out.
Here are a few of my favorites this week:
You saw my Crab Fest and Crab Cakes posts this week and without Fin, there would have been no crab or fest. I asked Peter & Dora (the owners) last year about crabs and they made it happen AND cared about how they tasted and what else they could do for us. That’s service you don’t normally see.
- Hooked & Galleria 7
Okay, it might seem weird to have two fish places on one post but I LOVE fish and I love finding what else is out there. I stumbled upon Galleria 7 because of a member at my gym (Thanks, Mary!) and she raved about the venue. It has a small town feeling of a place like Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market or NYC’s Chelsea Market.Hooked is a local seafood shop and my first impression was a good one. For lunch I got a seared salmon salad bowl with greens, sautéed cabbage, quinoa and some other toppings. JJ got seared tuna in taco form. Both were photo worthy, of course. At Galleria 7 there are a few other vendors (a Moroccan Tagine place is coming soon!) all looking to give you a taste of something delicious. Next on my list is The White Apron. I have some experimenting to do but will be back soon, who wants to meet up for lunch?
- Indian Ladder Farms
I first found Indian Ladder when I first moved to the area and wanted to Pick My Own Apples. I mean after all, I didn’t move to the state of apples for no reason! Since then (over 5 years ago now), Indian Ladder has continued to grow.We went with friends to their 1st Annual Oyster and Clam Festival a few Sundays ago and man was it fun! They have cider and beer on tap (both brewed by them) as well as oysters, clams, bratwurst and live music. Not to mention, a great place to sit outside, soak up some rays and bonus, you can bring your dog.
I am usually the one throwing oil or butter in a pan or just hoping that the non-stick properties of a pan will hold out for one more cooking spree. So, when I think about canned sprays of oil, it kind of freaks me out.
That is until now…
Pompeian makes an Avocado Oil Spray that has no propellant and actually sprays! Not to mention, Avocado has a high smoke point, which means when you put the burner too high, you have a longer time until you damage the oil and smoke out your entire family.
Um, hi, have we met? I live off of Greek Yogurt. I love that it fills me up and is delicious and my dog doesn’t seem to mind as he gets the last licks of the bowl. My favorite brands as of later are Siggi’s and Maple Hill Creamery. Full fat is preferred. I tried an orange-ginger flavor today and I think I’ll stick to my favorites: plain, vanilla and raspberry.
Fitness Crop Tops
If you are on the shorter side, like myself. We have finally, FINALLY, found shirts that are not dresses on us! And they flow off the mid section which makes for a more comfortable workout. Men, you are welcome to wear crop tops too, no judging here 🙂
Some of my favorites:
Under Armour (I wear this all the time):
Slip On Shoes
If you have ever had a puppy, you know that when they need to go out side, they REALLY need to go. Slip on shoes have saved me this past year and I’ve realized how comfortable they are without compromising fashion. Take that with a grain of salt, knowing my fashion sense….
Home Workout of the Week
Post to the comments your haute list and let me know if you hit this workout!
