Spiced Pear Sauce
Fall is probably one of my favorite times of the year. Not just because it’s pumpkin season, but also because the air is crisp and the apples/pears are ripe for the picking. I love hitting up Indian Ladder Farms for some Pick-Your-Own apples.
Not to mention, the weather is kick-butt and makes for some great hiking, Bonfire-ing, and leaf peeping.
I’m like the next guy, I love a sweet treat after dinner, but I’m not always willing to completely compromise my health and eat 500 grams of sugar in one sitting or even one day. So, when Field Goods gave me extra Pears this month, I decided to make some pear sauce before any of them went bad.
That’s kind of like when life throws you lemons, you make lemonade, right?
Pear sauce is very similar to applesauce, only it’s made with pears…shocking, I know. Feel free to add in a mixture of pears and apples depending on what you have on hand. If you think a pear/apple is going bad, it’s the perfect candidate for this recipe, don’t give up on it!
Feel free to use a pressure cooker if you have it! It reduces cook time SIGNIFICANTLY. My favorite one is this one. Otherwise, you can set it and forget it in your slow cooker and enjoy immediately!
Pro tip: this sauce tastes even better served warm and with a little of your favorite nut/seed butter mixed in (see my favorite here).
