Since Cinco de Mayo is this weekend, I decided to compile a list of healthy & of course Sassy Approved Cinco De Mayo recipes for your enjoyment.
Mexican food may be one of my favorite cuisines. It is so simple yet so delicious. This time of year I crave a plate of tacos paired with a delicious margarita. Then throw some chips & guac in the mix and I’m sold. I recognize that a full-on Mexican meal can be incredibly high in calories, carbs & fat. While I’m not one to count those things anyway, I am one to recognize that eating a certain way can lead to less than optimal results.
That’s where picking your battles comes in. I recommend not over-indulging on every single menu item. If you’re going to indulge in 10 baskets of chips, leave the dessert for another time. IF you want that fishbowl frozen margarita, put a hold on the chip basket. If you only go out to eat for Mexican once in a blue moon, well here’s the thing, enjoy yourself and stop worrying so much about one meal.
The next best option is to make a Mexican Cinco de Mayo feast at home so you get to control what goes on your plate. I’ve compiled a list of Appetizers, Main Dishes, Desserts & Cocktails for your enjoyment. They are all #sassyapproved and will be or have been on my menu at some point.
What’s a celebration without a first course? Appetizers might be more exciting to me than the entree.
